Zahir Photography Live Shots

I was lucky enough to get snapped by the very talented Amber Zahir when I was down in Plymouth at Ride bar. I love these shots especially the boots! Click on her name to check out more..
and I would drive 1500 miles..
Back up to the Northern lands..
The weekend was awesome, a big old campfire in a field, plenty of beers and I was surrounded by some really good friends I'd met on tour in France, we even managed to get a couple of days out in the surf which was amazing! The gig at The Swan was a perfect Sunday session, a nice way to round off a bit of a heavy weekend..we had fresh seafood caught that morning on one of the best BBQs I've had all summer. A big thanks to all the guys at The Swan for looking after us and to Honey Fungus for getting me there in the first place!
So from the South West of Wales, back to Cardiff and then on to Norfolk for a bit of a home coming gig! I try and get back every year to play in Wells and some old friends were there to cheer me on so it was the perfect way to end the summer. Lots of dancing, cheering and signing CDs ( Yes I even have my very own sharpie now..) loved every minute of it, thanks to all who made it down to the Cornerhouse.
Over 1,500 miles travelled, more than 30 gigs played, many happy new album owners and a slight addiction to Welsh cakes and the summer tour has just about finished. The last few weeks have been amazing thank you so much to everyone who has put me up for a night or two, bought a CD stopped and had a few drinks. I'll be back next summer with another tour and hopefully a new album...watch this space..
So for now I have a few gigs up in York and a couple of things on the boil in Leeds as well. I'm getting on with writing a new album (keep your eyes posted for acoustic demos coming soon..) and I'm off on tour in France in December which I'll keep you up to date with if just for the photos if nothing else, it's verrry easy to take pretty pictures in the alps!
So it doesn't stop here I'll just change countries for a while, now where did I leave that French phrase book..

Welshcakes.
Greetings from sunny South West Wales!
It's going to be interesting to add up all the miles I've travelled in the past few months (particularly if you count all the impromptu detours the sat nav likes to take..) So down to Wales again this week, I stopped off in Cardiff for a gig at the Live Lounge and then headed down to Pembrookeshire to see some very dear friends of mine and play a few gigs! This is the beautiful weather I was greeted with and there's even a whisper on the air we're going to catch a bit of surf this weekend if the weather reports are actually true..
I'm playing for Swansong at the Swan Inn in Little Haven this weekend, there's a big party on the Saturday night so if any of you happen to be down this way give me a shout, we even have a few friends from France coming over to play so it's going to be quite a mammoth musical weekend!
Next stop after here is Bristol for a night at the Golden Lion a week today (Tuesday 24th) for the Lions Den grrrr!
Bye for now..stay tuned for pictures of the party weekend...

So back to York..
After a few hours stuck behind what appeared to be some
sort of "caravan parade" I made it over to Plymouth for a
couple of gigs.First stop a support slot at Ride bar for
Carus and the true believers.
Carus was great, perfect summertime tunes and a
local favourite down at Ride. By the end of his set
he had nearly doubled the band on stage with other local
musicians stepping up to play! Carus also had Seth Lakeman
putting in a guest appearance on violin, which was awesome
to watch. I'm guessing they're old friends from
all of the banter floating about on stage.I also had an
interview with Eat Music (a new Plymouth based radio station)
which should be up on their site pretty soon.
Next up a gig at the Watering hole on the Barbican, it was
all outside so I felt relieved when the sea mist that had
rolled in, in the morning cleared..I would of had to change
my set to sea shanties and add the odd "ah agghh" every
now and then, no one wants to see that right? Thanks to
everyone who made it down, I had half of the bar doing a
Mexican wave by the end of the night my mission next time
is to work on the other half..
I had the best intentions to make it up to Redefest for the
weekend but the traffic held me back, I hear it was a great
success again this year so sad to have missed it!
So back in York with a gig in Kennedy's bar last night, it's
nice to be back for a few days playing
to lots of familiar faces. Next I'm off to Wales starting
with a gig in the Live Lounge, Cardiff and then down to the
coast to play a few more gigs before heading back to Bristol
for a night at the Golden Lion.

Kernooooowww!
From the land of cream teas and possibly the slowest traffic
I've been in since I've been away this time! It was a long
drive down to Truro.. I took a detour around Glastonbury and
when I came back to the motorway I was stuck in the longest,
hottest line of traffic I have ever seen. To add insult to
injury the car was overheating and the only way to stop it
was to put the heaters on..phew. I'm surprised I didn't actually
melt into an Alex Mack-esk puddle in the foot-well.
It was worth it though, it's been a wonderful week in the south
west! Lots of wondering around on the beach and telling myself
I could probably survive on a diet of rattler and cream teas. I
was taken out for Pasties in Padstow and had a day walking around
a theatre carved into the side of a cliff!
So Lovely to see some of my favourite friends, makes me wish I
lived closer except for the fact the cream and super strength cider
would be the end of me..
I played a gig in Truro last night at Zafiros to a crowd of right
little movers, thanks to all of you for making it down I hope
the new album owners are enjoying This Town.
Next stop is Bristol for the Harbour side festival on the Grain Barge,
hope a few of you Bristolians can make it down. It's an afternoon
affair I think it kicks off about 12-1 and I'm on around 4. Then a
couple of gigs in Plymouth on Thursday and Friday: Ride Bar and The
Watering Hole.
Back to the road then, give me a beep if you see me cruising in the
Nikita-Mobile..

Greetings from the Valleys..
A tranquil few days in Wales with a gig at the Live Lounge Cardiff
on Friday and the rest of the weekend to enjoy the weather and Pams
wonderful cooking!
I've been listening to a bit of 8bitmoon today a new band to check
out, very chilled, well put together and really suits my mood today.
I Wish I had the CD for the drive today I think it would work really
well for the journey down to Truro this afternoon past the moors..
So onwards and down to Cornwall today. Coming up is a gig
this Friday at Zafiros followed by a gig up in Bristol
on sunday as part of the Harbour Festival Fringe. I'll
be back down in Plymouth next weekend so if you're about
come on down I'll put up more details as they arrive!
The new album tracks are coming together slowly and I'm
doing a bit more writing this week, can't wait to get a
few demos out there and see what you think.
Right, time to load up and ship out
ciao for now..x

Spent a lovley afternoon playing at the The Big Lunch
at the Tabacco Factory in Bristol yesterday.
The venue has a really good atmosphere about it,
lots if interesting paintings and sculptures scattered
about with a theatre and various different studios.
I finished playing and sat and watched Poppy Perezz
a Latino, electro, pop duo. Colourful, funky and they
brought the sunshine out!
I've been booked to play at the Habour Festival
Fringe on The Grain Barge on the 1st of August
as well another one for all you Bristolians out there.
What's more its on a boat which makes it even
more exciting..
I hope the new album owners are enjoying the tunes, it
feels like I always meet someone from or associated with
my home town at every other gig, crazy considering what
a small place it is, if you're all out here who's looking
after the village?!
Having a listen to the new Plan B album today, a friend
recommended it and it's a pretty random mixture
of styles so far..just liked the Motown/northern soul
sound of a couple of the tracks I've heard. Any thoughts?
So I've got one more gig in Bristol tonight then it's
back up to York to pick up my PA and the Nikita clothing
that's arrived (woo!) and head back down to Cardiff for
the next part of the tour.
Until next time blog readers..

Morning all, it is absolutely hammering it down in Bristol
this morning, this is more like and English summer than
all that sunny stuff.
I went down to Mr Wolfs last night to play a few tunes,
a brilliant venue. Everything a venue should be:
Dark walls covered in gig posters? Check.
Ever so slightly sticky floor? Check.
Drunken graffiti in ladies loo including limericks and a little
too much information about other peoples boyfriends? Check.
Rumour has it Pete Roe and Jesse Quin started off playing
here so I felt in good company..I really enjoyed playing
and watching all the other acts too, Jack is running a
great night with some awesome musicians. Here's a bit
about it: Mr Wolfs story..
I didn't get to see the infamous Mr Wolf but the graffiti
informs me he has a tremendous beard.
I've been having a couple of folky moments today in the
shape of Goldheart Assembly, I'm a little
bit in love with the track Anvil check them out here:
Goldheart Assembly
I played a couple of nights for Jamie when I was living
in London, its great to see him doing so well.
Another couple of gigs coming up, the Tobacco factory on
Sunday and the prom on Monday..
So back to the new album and tea. Lots and lots of tea.

Greetings from the one woman and her peugeot tour...
Woke up with a bit of a hangover if I'm honest..sleeping
at different places on tour a lot is also confusing me. I keep
waking up thinking I'm somewhere else and everything
looks the same when you wake up at 4am a little confused..
The tour has been going really well, thank you to everyone
who's managed to make it down, there are plenty more dates
coming up so keep your eyes peeled. I'm heading out in Bristol this
week, Mr Wolfs tomorrow then gigs at the Tabacco factory and
the prom on sunday and monday.
I've been getting really into listening to the staple
singers just recently. I've found Mavis Staples solo
stuff on spotify and she's awesome. I'm listening to
lots of of soul and gospel at the moment,
really good to belt out when I'm driving around.
A particular favourite is Aretha Franklins version of
Eleanor Rigby, she changes the feeling of the song
completely it's amazing.
So I've started a little writing for the new album. I'm
planning on a really live sound, getting a band together
and recording it all together. A couple of tracks have
been floating around today so we'll have to wait and
see what happens..
